1984-85 Gitane Team Pro with Mavic 1000 SSC Group

This bike is photographed as it came to me in the mid-2000s. Supposedly it belonged to an amateur racer sponsored Tarantella, a restaurant/bar in the south of France near Marseille. Of interest is the Swiss customs lead seal attached to the top tube, indicating that the bike was used in races outside France. I have dated this bike as being a 1984-85 model, as its tubing is Columbus SL (prior to 1983 and after 1985, the Team Pro framesets were made from Reynolds 531), but the graphics on the downtube are from 1985 - in fact, the seat tube decal has the same font as the 1984 Team Pro bikes. It is finished in the "French racing blue", and features an almost complete Mavic SSC 1000 group. THE BIKE Frame: 1984-85 Team Pro in French Racing Blue. The frameset features Columbus SL tubing and Simplex dropouts. 54.0 and 53.5 cm top and seat tubes, respectively.
