Cino Cinelli was born February 9, 1916 near Florence, Italy and passed away in 2001. Between 1937 and 1944 he raced professionally with the Bianchi and Frejus teams, winning the Tour of the Apennines (1937), the Giro di Lombardia (1938), and Milan-San Remo (1943). He founded Cinelli with his brother Giotto in Florence, and then moved the company to Milan, the then center of the Italian bicycle industry. Cinelli was internationally recognized for their handlebars and stems, and produced the Unicanitor, one of the first plastic saddles. Cinelli framesets were produced in limited numbers (a few hundred per year) with the sloping fork crown Speciale Corsa or Super Corsa (SC) being the top of the line frameset. The SC was initially made with Reynolds 531 main tubes and Columbus SL stays and fork blades. However, starting in 1963, it was made entirely from Columbus SL. The second model to the SC, the Modello B (Mod. B, pictured here), was constructed from Columbus SL main tubes and Falck fork blades and stays - the Mod. B had a flat fork crown, in contrast to the SC's sloping fork crown. Although second in line to the SC, the Mod. B was produced in much more limited numbers and was no longer available past 973.
